ANSCHUTZ INPATIENT PAVILION
University of Colorado Hospital
The design team used a holistic approach to the hospital interior design. We were asked to create a hotel that functioned as a hospital. The USGBC LEED guidelines were followed strictly in the design of this facility to ensure that the interior environment was a healthy place for patients, families and staff as well as being energy efficient. Several aspects of healing, included, architectural design elements to create family amenity spaces; exterior healing gardens; a chapel for solitude; family space in rooms; and a focus on indoor environmental quality. The daylight, views, asymmetrical curves of the building and contemporary Colorado theme were elements that were emphasized in the design.
